bnb.me is a gateway for resolving SPACE ID .bnb Domain Name Service records. It aims to work as a decentralized way of bridging your Web3 domains to Web2 that can be accessed from any web browsers with ease for all .bnb holders. It also comes with a simple-to-use website builder for you to get started.

Why
What other purpose do blockchain domains serve than to resolve wallet addresses? Can it be used to host a website? Most definitely, and the role of an IPFS gateway is essential.
Websites are hosted on a decentralized network called IPFS in Web3, which means they are not hosted on centralized servers that you or someone else own, but rather on a variety of nodes. You can even turn your computer into an IPFS node.
Every file on the peer-to-peer (P2P) IPFS network has a unique identifier (cryptographic hash) called CID. Even minor changes to a file will result in a completely different CID. When a node lookup a file, it will ask it’s peer nodes who’s storing the content referenced by the file’s CID. Learn more about IPFS here.
However, Web3 domains (a.k.a. blockchain-based domains) are different from Web2 domains in that they cannot currently be resolved by major browsers, though this is changing.
That’s the purpose of bnb.me. You can use any web browser to visit Steven’s decentralised website at steven.bnb.me for steven.bnb.
How does bnb.me work?
bnb.me operates as a reverse proxy for .bnb names and IPFS content. We uses a wildcard DNS record *.bnb.me to capture the name of the .bnb domain.
That means: when you visit steven.bnb.me, bnb.me will lookup the IPFS CID of domain steven.bnb from the resolver, and fetch the contents from IPFS network then response to your browser.
